web traffic with search engine optimisation'
The key factors
to make your website more search engine friendly
Title
- This is the most important line in the website, it is
the title that people read in the search engine results
that determines if they click through to the site or not
Meta Tags -
These are descriptive tags to let the search engines know
what the site is about. The search engines do not use them
as much now as people were using this as a way of spamming.
Alt Tags - Search
engines can not read images. The alt tag gives the image
a description the search engine can read
Links
- Google uses the number of back links as a guide to how
popular the site is. Therefore the higher number of links
to your site the more popular it is and so the higher it
ranks.
Keeping the site simple - Search
Engines do not like Flash, frames, images or Java. They
cannot read these so it is best to avoid these where possible
and keep it simple using HTML
There
are 2 types of search engine optimisation
Pay
per click - When you pay a search engine for each visitor
they send to your site, Pay per click listings are usually
marked as advertisements or "Sponsored Links"
and appear above or beside the search engine's organic listings.
Organic search engine optimisation - is
done by optimising the web pages of your website and by
creating link popularity to give your site good rankings
on the search engines
