Organic Search Engine Optimisation
v Pay Per Click Marketing
There
are 2 types of search engine optimisation
Pay per
click (PPC)- When you pay a search engine for each visitor
they send to your site, Pay per click listings are usually
marked as advertisements or "Sponsored Links"
and appear above or beside the search engine's organic listings.
Organic search engine optimisation - is done by optimising
the web pages of your website and by creating link popularity
to give your site good rankings on the search engines
Organic Search Engine
Optimization
Organic search engine is the more cost effective method,
but not cheap. There is a lot of work and a lot of times
goes into making a website search engine friendly to get
good rankings and even longer to build up a good link popularity.
One of the downsides of organic search engine placement
is the time required to get your website to the top. Do
not expect search engine optimisation to work miracles overnight,
it takes time and a lot of patience. The average time for
a new domain name to rank well on Google is now about 8
months.
Pay Per Click
The primary benefit of pay per click is the immediate results
and complete control it offers the advertiser. You can commit
an exact amount and may target one set of keywords today,
and if they don't work out you may target an entirely different
set of keywords tomorrow.
As a short term plan, pay per click is ideal. The main problem
of pay per click is the cost. A top position for some search
terms can cost thousands each day. Over the long term, organic
search engine optimization is much more cost effective.
